Invitation to Participate in a European Survey on CBCT Optimisation in Radiotherapy

On behalf of the OPTIMIZE-RT project consortium, we would like to invite you to participate in a European survey on current Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) optimisation practices in Radiotherapy.
About this Survey
This survey is part of OPTIMIZE-RT, a European-funded project (Grant number: 2025-1-MT01-KA220-HED-000356020) that aims to enhance image-guided radiotherapy practices across Europe through evidence-based optimisation of CBCT imaging.
For this research, optimisation is the adjustment of CBCT imaging protocols, procedures and parameters to produce adequate image quality, at the lowest patient dose, and streamline clinical workflows in radiotherapy.
Aim
This European Survey seeks to assess current CBCT imaging optimisation strategies and methodologies used in radiotherapy departments across Europe. The goal is to identify variations, challenges, and current practices in CBCT optimisation, helping to guide the development of tailored training materials and recommendations within the OPTIMIZE-RT project.
Target Audience
Radiographers/RTT, medical physicists, radiation oncologists, quality managers and other radiotherapy professionals working with CBCT across Europe.
Why Your Participation Matters
Your input is essential in mapping the current landscape of CBCT use. The information gathered will:
  • Document variations in imaging protocols and workflows across institutions.
  • Identify challenges and areas for improvement in CBCT optimisation.
  • Contribute to the development of an evidence-based, Europe-wide training programme that addresses real clinical needs.
Potential Benefits
Although there is no direct financial or personal benefit to participation, your contribution will support the development of evidence-based recommendations and training materials within the OPTIMIZE-RT project. The results will provide a Europe-wide overview of CBCT optimisation practices, helping departments benchmark their approaches, promote best practice, and ultimately contribute to improved image quality, patient safety, and workflow efficiency in radiotherapy.
Confidentiality and Data Protection
Your responses will be handled in accordance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
  • Participation is voluntary, and you may withdraw at any time before submission.
  • No personally identifiable information will be collected unless you choose to provide contact details voluntarily.
  • All data will be stored securely and reported in aggregate form so that no individual or institution can be identified. The data will be used only for research purposes within the OPTIMIZE-RT project which also includes the PhD study entitled “Optimisation for Cone-Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) in Radiotherapy”.
