Qualified outside R.O.I

To avail of IIRRT membership you must be either a practising Radiographer / Radiation Therapist employed and living in the Republic of Ireland or a retired Radiographer / Radiation Therapist living in the Republic of Ireland.

There are two different types of membership to avail of:

• Full membership with professional indemnity insurance (recommended for all practising Radiographers / Radiation Therapists). This membership opinion costs €288 annually (€24 monthly).

• Full membership without insurance (for retired Radiographers / Radiation Therapists). This membership opinion costs €120 annually (€10 monthly).

Step 1. Qualification Validation

If you have qualified as a Radiographer / Radiation Therapist outside of the Republic of Ireland you must first apply to the Department of Health to have your qualification validated to work in Ireland. Click here to explain the validation procedure.

Step 2. Register online

Only when you receive a Validation letter from the HSE can you become an IIRRT member. Complete the IIRRT membership registration online here and upload your Validation letter from the HSE. Alternatively register by post using the downloadable membership form and return it to the IIRRT Office along with the details below.

Step 3. Membership Payment

The preferred method of payment is via monthly Direct Debit.  Please print off the Direct Debit form and return this to the IIRRT Office.

Annual payment via cheque, postal order or PayPal are also possible, to ensure you are paying the correct amount please review the payment list under the “Membership Fees” section attached. Cheques and Postal Orders must be made from an Irish banking institution. Cheques should be made payable to The Irish Institute of Radiography and Radiation Therapy.

Step 4. Application Process

All documents (application form, direct debit form and HSE Validation letter) should be submitted together to the IIRRT office and you will receive an e-mail from us confirming we have received your application. Please note you are not a member of the IIRRT until we have verified all your documentation and payment has been received. This process can take up to 6 weeks.
