Non-National Qualifications Q. How do I get my qualification validated? A. All radiographers who have gained their radiographic qualification outside the Republic of Ireland must individually apply to the Minister for Health and Children to have their qualifications validated before taking up employment in Ireland. This is a requirement under EU law (EU Directive 89/48). CHECKLIST: 1. You must complete ALL of the following and send them to the address below
Diagnostic Radiographers Note: If you do not have Acrobat Reader (PDF) click here to download it free of charge. 2.. A copy of proof of Citizenship in your home country i.e. Birth certificate, or Passport 3. Validated copy of original Diploma/Degree, 4. An academic record of your education in radiogrpahy, this can be obtained form the educational institute where you studied. 5. Documentation to indicate that the qualification entitles the applicant to practice as a radiographer in the country where the qualifications were gained. 6. if appropriate - Marriage certificate. This is required to verify any change of name. 7. Additional information - Should the applicant have additional information they think is relevant, a list only of the information should be included. Note: Should the Review Board require the additional information, they will request it to be forwarded. 8. A cheque drawn down in an Irish bank, for 100Euro and made payable to the Irish Institute of Radiography.
9. All non - EU citizens must also hold a valid work visa.

A. 1. The application will be checked by the National Validation Project (NVP) Office and sent to the Radiographers Qualification Review Board (RQRB) if complete. Note: If an application is incomplete the application will be returned to the applicant. 2. A letter of acknowledgement will be sent to the applicant by the NVP office with a reference number. Following assessment: 3. The NVP office will be notified of the outcome of the validation review by the RQRB. 4. The Department of Health and Children will inform the applicant of the outcome of their validation application.
