The IIRRT student research funding programme is open to all undergraduate Radiography / Radiation Therapy students who are members of the organization. The aims of these grants are to reduce the resource-constraints on students in the research they undertake as part of their undergraduate programme and to encourage dissemination of research within the profession.
Grants can be used to assist with any justified research related expenses, such as purchasing equipment and materials, or to facilitate student attendance / presentations at conferences or seminars. Students apply by means of a competitive process as follows:
Process
- The Grant call and its terms and conditions would be issued in September annually, with a submission date for early October.
- Students would complete an application as part of their research module, thus learning the essential research skill of grant application
- The funding applications would be graded by two staff members from the students’ institution (UCD / TCD), one of whom would always be an IIRRT Council member.
- The top ten applications would then be forwarded to IIRRT Council for consideration.
- IIRRT decisions are reported through UCD / TCD staff to students within four weeks of submission and prior to the annual IIRRT conference or international conference as appropriate.
- Successful students are required to sign an agreement to publish their research in “Radiography Ireland” Journal before drawing down funding
- Students must submit receipts for all expenses claimed.
- Students would submit manuscript for editorial review before end of June the following year
