Are you organising a CPD course? Why not apply for IIRRT Course endorsement?
Endorsement means the process by which the IIRRT assesses the suitability and educational value of the proposed learning programme. CPD events include events such as study days and conferences as well as e-learning, CDs and literature
It applies to locally organised events i.e. not formal study. It is to be understood that a provider of CPD is anyone who provides learning material for radiographers and radiation therapists. The purpose of endorsement is to indicate to HSCPC, radiographers and radiation therapists that a particular CPD event is of an appropriate standard and recognised by the IIRRT
* Providers must identify specific learning outcomes together with some structure that will promote reflective practice and an evaluation of learning
* Providers must suggest how encouragement will be given to undertake further learning.
* When endorsed the provider may use the IIRRT CPD logo for the specific event, for a period of two years. At the end of this time the provider must reapply for endorsement
How to apply for endorsement
* Allow at least six weeks for the process
* Send the completed application form to IIRRT together with details of the course as outlined above.
* Be aware that further information may be requested
* Feedback will be provided in the case of a failed application
* The IIRRT CPD logo will be sent to the applicant in electronic format
* The logo can only be used for the endorsed CPD event and it remains the property of the IIRRT
* Retrospective endorsement is not possible
The application for endorsement can be downloaded here.
The CPD committee will normally advise applicants of the outcome of the application no later than 3 weeks after the receipt of application.
IV Administration Course Endorsement
The IIRRT endorses intravenous administration courses at the following centres:
- Diagnostic Imaging, UCD School of Medicine & Medical Science
- Radiographers’ Education Group, St. James’s Hospital
However, members are invited to submit details of other IV administration courses to the IIRRT for endorsement. Course endorsement is particularly important for IIRRT members to ensure that full insurance cover will be provided under the group insurance scheme, as long as bothof the following requirements are fulfilled:
1) Have undertaken an IV administration course that is endorsed by the IIRRT,
2) Have approval to perform IV injections under the local hospital IV administration protocol.
Course details should include:
- Name of centre
- Course date
- Course duration
- Course curriculum
- Post course practice requirements, e.g., logbook evidence etc.
Approval of a course will be subject to an evaluation of the submitted course details to the usual address.
