Fellowship of the Irish Institute of Radiography and Radiation Therapy
Background
The Fellowship of the IIRRT is an honorary title, bestowed upon individuals who have made significant contribution to the radiography / radiation therapy profession. The award of the Fellowship is regarded as an honour and privilege. Additionally, the individual receives complimentary life membership of The IIRRT.
Fellows of the Irish Institute of Radiography and Radiation Therapy are entitled to all the rights and privileges of membership of the Institute, including the right to hold office therein. Recipients each receive a certificate, which is presented at the annual General Meeting of the Irish Institute of Radiography and Radiation Therapy.
Criteria for Award of the Fellowship
The Fellowship will be awarded for outstanding contributions to the professions of radiography and radiation therapy. Nominations for the award of the Fellowship will be sought from members of IIRRT
Nominees
Nominees field of work may span all the imaging and radiation therapy modalities and the wider spheres of commerce, industry and management. Their nomination may be based on past and/or recent achievements.
There will be no prerequisite for the nominee to be in current membership of The IIRRT.
Criteria for Selection
A nomination must be supported by a description of the nominee’s outstanding contribution, as recognised and acclaimed by his or her peers. Evidence of the nominee’s service to the radiography / radiation therapy profession and the objects of The IIRRT must be provided. Such contributions may encompass one or more of the following:
- promotion of the science and practice of diagnostic imaging and/or radiation therapy for the benefit of the public;
- published work;
- contributions to the professional development of colleagues;
- contributions to educational developments within diagnostic imaging and/or radiation therapy;
- advocacy and ambassadorial roles within and outside the profession both nationally and internationally;
- any other appropriate contributions.
Nominations
Nominations must be in writing and must be supported by at least two members in good standing of The IIRRT.
Evidence in support of the nomination must be submitted on a maximum of FOUR sides of A4 paper.
Adjudication
Nominations will be considered for the award of the Fellowship by the IIRRT Council.
Recipients will be notified in writing of the award. A notice of awardees will also be published on the IIRRT website and in Radiography Ireland journal.
